As director of strategic engagement, Michelle plays a crucial role in advancing MCAN’s mission and brand, ensuring effective communication and engagement strategies that align with the organization’s goals. Michelle contributes to the success of MCAN in many ways, working across all departments to support strategic communications, integrated marketing communications, public relations, and external engagement.
Prior to joining MCAN, Michelle worked for 12 years at the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, where she served in several leadership roles including event management, marketing, and membership engagement and development. As a long-time member of the LRCC’s leadership team, Michelle provided strategic direction for membership growth, retention, and engagement initiatives, as well as elevating the chamber’s brand as a regional leader. One of Michelle's proudest accomplishments while working at the Lansing Regional Chamber was reaching and sustaining a 93% retention rate for membership.
Michelle’s journey through college took several turns before she found her footing and home at Ferris State University. Prior to attending college, Michelle was actively employed and looking for her next path. She knew postsecondary education was the only option that would give her the tools to grow beyond her current career. As a college student, Michelle excelled in the studies of business and public relations. She spent five semesters on the Dean's List and graduated Cum Laude as a Ferris State Bulldog in 2008.
Michelle, her fiancée Ryan, and their daughter Ryleigh love living in Michigan and enjoying the beautiful natural amenities provided by the state. You can often find them on a beach in the summer, hitting the sledding hills in the winter, and always playing board games. Previously, Michelle served on the board of ATHENA Win, a Greater Lansing organization dedicated to professional development and mentorship for women in business.
