In this Innovation Lab, join Rebekah Ward, school counselor at Lincoln Middle School, as she discusses how her school used student input along with the American School Counselor Association model to identify and address needs for postsecondary college and career readiness. She will emphasize the importance of starting vertical alignment earlier for postsecondary programming. Rebekah will also share specifics about her work at the middle school level to create a “postsecondary-going culture.”

MCAN's virtual Innovation Labs provide an opportunity for dialogue among school counselors and other college access professionals in meetings that highlight emerging strategies positively affecting the college-going culture in their communities.

In this MCAN Innovation Lab, we'll share the College in High School toolkit that was developed as a statewide resource to better share, explain, and customize your school's college-in-high school offerings such as AP/IB, Dual Enrollment, EMC, and CTE. All resources are customizable for use with students and families. Examples will be shared from districts throughout the state. We will give you access to the toolkit, answer any questions, and get your feedback. This is a great session for CTE coordinators, EMC coordinators, school leaders, and school counselors.

Ted Gardella, who has been a long-time partner with MCAN to help Michigan schools improve, is now working with Cambridge University Press and Assessment to support schools with the implementation of the Cambridge International programs for pre-K through grade 12 schools in the Midwest. He will present three webinars in partnership with MCAN to introduce Cambridge International programs and talk about the resources and benefits schools can expect.
